Determining Unintentional Island Threshold to Enhance the Reliability in an Electrical Distribution Grid

Due to the significant number of distributed generators in electric power system, islanding detection requirements are becoming an increasingly prominent aspect system. The island system depends on accurate threshold determination since incorrect might result a hazardous situation. To evaluate proposed method’s capacity discriminate between different events, this study examined unintentional conditions such as under frequency and over frequency. purpose is establish conditions. condition happens when generator (DG) exceeds amount connected load; other hand, during higher load compared DG. contribution research propose setting technique based bus voltage angle difference data phasor measurement unit (PMU). In PowerWorld simulator, Utility Kerteh (location: Terengganu, Malaysia) has been designed simulated work. test four distinct scenarios two conditions, performance methods demonstrates that for scenario’s can be taken at minimum 40 milliseconds (ms) maximum 60 ms, while placed ms 80 depending scenarios. Therefore, will contributed increase reliability overall distribution grid so detected faster terms time.
